New Girl alum Zooey Deschanel turned 40-years-old on January 17th, and she celebrated the milestone birthday with a 1980s-themed party attended by friends and family, including boyfriend Jonathan Scott.
All of Deschanel’s guests dressed up in old-school 80s clothing that featured a lot of neon, spandex, blonde mullet wigs, leg warmers, and fanny packs. Scott and his family – including twin brother Drew and wife Linda Phan, and his parents – were all part of the celebration. Phan posted a pic from the party on Instagram, and she also included a fun video montage of the family dancing and showing off their best 80s moves and costumes.

Drew Scott also posted a series of pics and the same fun video, and he wrote in the caption, “Thanks to Zooey for being born in the 80s! To mom and dad for setting the bar high. To Annalee for making our hair big and spandex extra tight and to Jonathan and Emily for putting it all together. And to my dance partner for life . … I now need a chiro session.”
Jonathan Scott didn’t post any pics from the party, but he did share a photo of Deschanel, and wrote a happy birthday message in the caption. Scott called Deschanel a “beautiful human,” and thanked her for bringing joy and laughter back into his life.

Deschanel posted a selfie on Instagram, and told her 5.6 million followers that she was celebrating 40 years of being on the planet. She wrote that life is wonderful, and she is grateful for the amazing people in her life. The actress also thanked her fans for their birthday wishes, and concluded her note by writing that her “heart is full.”
