The best restaurants in Cortina d'Ampezzo

Cortina has a very wide choice of restaurants both on the slopes and in the resort, from basic pizzerias to a Michelin-starred place. There are lots of options on or near the car-free Corso Italia main street, but some of the best are a short taxi-ride from the centre of town.

El Camineto

One of Cortina’s best restaurants, near the foot of the Duca d’Aosta chairlift on Tofana-Socrepes and accessible by car, El Camineto is popular with Cortina’s chic non-skiing crowd. It has a woody interior and big terrace with fabulous views, both elegantly furnished and with top-notch service – formal but friendly. The menu is wide-ranging and unusual specialities include pasta with onions, spaghetti alla vodka, mouth-watering black cod and pasta, a variety of risottos, and white polenta with scallops and porcini mushrooms. Delicious desserts. Open for dinner too.

A 10-minute taxi ride from town at the foot of the Socrepes slopes, Tivoli is worth the journey for chef Graziano Prest’s mouth-watering Michelin-starred cuisine, served in an elegant dining room in a simple-looking chalet. While it is widely acknowledged as the best restaurant in Cortina, service is nonetheless unpretentious and friendly. The menu changes frequently, but typically inventive dishes include radicchio and gorgonzola fondue with cracked fried egg on top; suckling pig and mushroom ravioli with lovage sauce and black truffle; or venison chop with porcini mushrooms and raspberry vinegar emulsion. Equally inventive desserts include ‘apple strudel in a glass’. The wine list is excellent and international.
