He currently plays professional basketball for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). In his varsity days, Brogdon played for the Virginia Cavaliers and was the very first player to receive the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) defensive player of the year as well as ACC player of the year in 2016. That same year, he was drafted in the second round during the NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and was named Rookie of the Year.

His Early Life and Career Achievements

Dr. Jann Adams and Mitchell Brogdon welcomed their third son Malcolm Moses Brogdon on the 11th of December 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia. Mitchell was a lawyer and Jann was the Chairperson of the Morehouse College’s Psychology Department as well as the associate dean of math and science. Their marriage ended in a divorce 11 years later but Malcolm’s love for the game of basketball blossomed. Malcolm Brogdon has two brothers John (elder brother), a lawyer and Gino (elder brother), presently in law school. Due to his family’s strong view on academics, Malcolm was compelled to maintain an above-average performance in class or end the pursuit of his dream career. When he finished from Greater Atlanta Christian School, he did not disappoint.

Malcolm chose the University of Virginia after rejecting offers from colleges in Georgia, Arkansas and Notre Dame. He continued to play basketball in college until but was rendered inactive in his second year due to a foot injury. He was instrumental to his team’s successful runs from 2013 to 2015, two seasons in a row. In his first year alone, he averaged 6.7 points and 2.8 rebounds. When he recovered from his injury he averaged 12.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in each game. He was named ACC player of the year.

He was 36th on the list of the 2016 NBA Draft and thrilled fans in his first game with a sterling performance, recording 8 points and 9 assists in a game which his team eventually lost to the Charlotte Hornets. He later scored 12 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds against the Chicago Bulls. The Bucks won 116-96.

Brandon was called to play in the United States Basketball team and with the team, he participated in the Pan American Games, winning the bronze medal. He won The Rookie of the Year NBA award and was part of the All-Rookie First Team selection in 2017 after he averaged 10.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 75 games.

A torn left quadriceps tendon injury kept Malcolm Brogdon in the cooler for over 7 weeks in the 2018 season. He returned in April and averaged 12.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 48 games. He has missed a total of 30 games.
