Nathaniel Potvin is a name you’re going to be hearing a lot more of over the coming months.

Not only is he the star of Disney XD’s live action series Mech-X4, but he will soon be on our screens in the new Netflix show, Alexa & Katie. On top of that, Nathaniel is currently starring as Wallace Marks in the highly anticipated Facebook Watch series, Five Points.

We spoke with Nathaniel last October to talk all things Mech-X4. However, so much can happen in a few months so we thought it was only right to catch up with him once more. Read on to find out all the latest on his new Five Points project, his future dream roles and passion for photography.

Last time we spoke to you, the second season of Disney XD’s Mech-X4 had just premiered. How have you been keeping since then?

I’ve been really great. I have been enjoying time with family and friends & working hard. I have been working on some other projects & I’m excited about MECH-X4 which is returning March 25th. I also have a recurring role in the new Netflix series Alexa & Katie premiering on March 23rd.

Your latest role is in a new series called ‘Five Points’, where you will be playing Wallace. What can you tell us about the show and your character?

I can’t tell you much about the show because Facebook wants to keep it under wraps. I will say that the show is really amazing and It features an incredible ensemble cast. We all bring different qualities and our own uniqueness to the story.  I think people will really like the show and how our character’s stories intertwine.

How is Wallace different to some of the other characters you’ve portrayed before, such as Mech-X4’s Ryan?

I feel that Ryan is different from Wallace in the sense that Ryan is a regular kid that just happens to have a superpower (controlling technology).  He has to find the strength to be a hero and leading a team of teens to save the world from evil forces and monsters. It’s hard to describe Wallace without spoilers but I will say that he is very different from Ryan.

What attracted you to the role and the show?

Well the thing that attracted me to this role of Wallace is the fact that it was Facebook. I remember wanting to be a part of this project because the script really resonated with me and I thought it was an amazing story. Also, I wanted to be a part of something that has never been done before. Five Points is Facebook’s first in-house scripted show and that’s pretty cool.

You star alongside the likes of Madison Pettis and Hayley Kiyoko. What were they like to work with?

They are both incredible people. I was a little nervous at first with Madison because she was in the Game Plan with The Rock which is pretty sick, but when I met her she was the sweetest human being ever. Meeting Hayley was really cool because she is just as down to earth as Madison.  We all see each other as family now and love hanging out and just having fun with each other.

The incredible Kerry Washington is at the helm of the show as the Executive Producer. What did you learn from her during your time on set?

Soooooo…. funny story: Kerry was on set but I actually didn’t get to meet her until after we were done shooting because we had conflicting schedules. I would always miss her when I came to set. When I finally met her she was so amazing and elegant and probably one of the most beautiful people I have ever encountered. She just has so much poise and grace.

What was your highlight from the whole process?

My highlight from the whole process was actually being allowed to work on this amazing project. There was not one moment that I didn’t love or learn something from being around everyone.  I am completely grateful for the opportunity.

Five Points is available to view on Facebook Watch, which is a relatively new platform. Were there any differences in the filming and production process compared to other shows you’ve worked on?

The “Five Points” project is a single camera project. It’s more like traditional film making. There is more time with this style and more artistry that can go into the process. It was relatively similar to other shows I have worked on.

You’ve mentioned that you’re keen to take on edgier characters and roles in the future. What would be your dream role to take on?

My dream role is in a film where I have something to do with the creative process in post and pre-production.

In addition to being an actor, you also have a passion for photography and aspire to be a director one day. What do you enjoy the most about being on the other side of a camera?

The thing that I enjoy most about being on the other side of the camera is the composition of it all. I feel that just the way that you set the camera means something behind it, or at least It should. I want to be on the other side so I can tell people my stories but through another perspective they haven’t seen before. I feel that photography is a great segue to doing that.

With Five Points in full swing and Alexa and Katie premiering on Netflix next month, we’re going to be seeing a lot of you on our screens! Are there any other projects or plans that you can tell us about?

I can’t say much but I am currently working on a new project that should be out around the end of this year.

Thank you to Nathaniel for his time! Catch him on Five Points on Facebook Watch now, Netflix’s Alexa & Katie on March 23, and the new season of MECH-X4 on Disney XD on March 25.
