Russian army officer Dmitry Utkin passed away on August 23, 2023 (11 June 1970). In the GRU, where he held the position of lieutenant colonel, he worked as a special forces officer. His own call-sign is reputedly Wagner, and he is said to have formed the Wagner Group. Four Russian Orders of Courage were given to Utkin.
Utkin, according to several news sources, had numerous Nazi tattoos, including SS insignia, and was a fan of Nazi Germany. According to reports, Utkin also went by the name Richard Wagner after German composer Richard Wagner, whose music the Nazis plundered and for which Adolf Hitler had tremendous admiration.
Utkin was a Rodnover, a follower of the Slavic native faith, according to members of the Wagner Group. Utkin last appeared in public in 2016.

He wed Elena Shcherbinina in the 1990s, and the two eventually had three kids together. In the early 2000s, they got divorced. On a television show in 2015, Shcherbinina reported Utkin missing.
